Elegant yet deeply expressive, the 2023 Mongarda Brut Prosecco Superiore hails from the San Gallo vineyard in Farra di Soligo, an exceptional site in the heart of Valdobbiadene. Crafted with precision and reverence for tradition, this organically farmed, small-batch sparkling wine is a masterclass in texture, aromatic purity, and mineral intensity. Made from old vines grown on steep, rocky slopes, it balances finesse with verve, delivering a refreshing, terroir-driven Prosecco that far surpasses expectations.

Sensory Description:

This Brut Prosecco opens with a delicate, evolving bouquet of lemon sorbet, wildflowers, sweet smoke, and citrus blossoms. On the palate, it is crystalline and lively, featuring a core of white pit fruit, green melon, and a hint of mint. A fine, persistent mousse lifts the wine’s zippy acidity and lightly yeasty texture, finishing clean and refreshing with notes of preserved citrus, dried herbs, and wet stone minerality. It’s a wine with an opposing soul—serious in structure yet playful and effervescent in its charm.

Awards & Accolades:

  • 90 Points – Eric Guido, Vinous (December 2024):
“Striking, crystalline and intense… leaves the palate completely cleansed and watering for more.”

Winemaker's Background:

Founded in 1978 by Bruno Tormena and today run by his son Martino, Mongarda is a family-owned estate dedicated to producing “real Prosecco” that speaks of place and purity. Martino Tormena, a graduate of the enology school in Conegliano, farms 12.5 hectares of extreme-slope vineyards by hand, alongside 5 hectares of woods. The estate’s vines, many planted in 1950, thrive in nutrient-poor marl and calcareous soils. Mongarda is devoted to low-intervention, organic viticulture without synthetic chemicals or excessive copper use, instead incorporating biodynamic composts and natural plant extracts. In the cellar, spontaneous fermentations, gentle whole-cluster pressings, and minimal sulfur guide the wines to speak clearly of vintage and terroir. With a total production of only 30,000 bottles annually, Mongarda remains a benchmark for authenticity and quality in the Prosecco DOCG zone.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve well-chilled at 6–8°C in a tulip or sparkling wine glass to appreciate its aromatics and fine bubbles. An ideal companion to antipasti, seafood crudo, tempura vegetables, or soft cheeses, this Brut Prosecco also makes a superb aperitif on its own.

The 2023 Mongarda Brut is a sparkling wine of subtle power and natural elegance—an artisanal expression of Conegliano Valdobbiadene’s finest hillside vineyards, handcrafted to bring joy in every celebratory pour.
