Bursting with character and hand-crafted elegance, the 2021 Heidi Schrock & Söhne Pétillant Naturel is a joyfully expressive sparkling wine from the lakeside vineyards of Rust in Burgenland, Austria. This natural méthode ancestrale blend of 70% Pinot Blanc and 30% Pinot Gris channels generations of winemaking intuition into a vibrant, skin-contact pét-nat with honest terroir and refreshing energy. Sensory Description:

shimmering copper-hued wine with a soft, cloudlike mousse, this pét-nat offers up aromas of dried citrus peel, nectarine skin, pear blossom, and salted melon. On the palate, gentle fizz and an earthy minerality frame notes of stone fruit, grapefruit zest, wild herbs, and a slight almond nuance. The structure is both textural and lifted, thanks to the skin contact and restrained bottle pressure, resulting in a bone-dry, zippy, and utterly thirst-quenching finish.

Winemaker's Background:

Heidi Schrock has been making wine in Rust since 1983, building on a family tradition that stretches back over 300 years. Joined now by her sons Georg and Johannes, Heidi Schrock & Söhne is a dynamic and philosophical family estate rooted in the land and driven by purpose. Their vines are lovingly cultivated without herbicides or synthetics, and their wines reflect deep respect for natural processes, handcraft, and the expressive diversity of Burgenland’s historic terroir. From traditional sweet wines like Ruster Ausbruch to contemporary orange and sparkling bottlings, the estate balances continuity with innovation, producing wines of soul and substance.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve well chilled (45–48°F) and be prepared for a gentle pop and a bit of sediment—this is pét-nat, after all. Ideal as an aperitif or alongside brunch fare, this wine pairs delightfully with cured meats, soft cheeses, sushi, or anything that plays with umami and freshness. Its subtly earthy, floral tones also make it a wonderful companion to Middle Eastern mezze or summer vegetable tarts.

This bottle is Heidi Schrock & Söhne’s declaration of joy and truth in winemaking: unfussy, pure, and electric. Let it tickle your palate and recharge your love of naturally expressive wines.
