September 2025 Wine Club Release
This month, we turned our focus to Australia and New Zealand because time and again, these regions have proven themselves to be customer favorites in our Somm Says™ wine tasting game. When put side by side with wines from more traditional appellations — France, Italy, Spain, and California — the wines of the Southern Hemisphere consistently shine, outperforming expectations and delivering exactly what our members value most: purity of fruit, balance, and a sense of adventure in the glass.
What makes these regions so compelling is their unique blend of tradition and innovation. New Zealand has redefined cool-climate winemaking with vibrant, aromatic whites and increasingly elegant reds, while Australia has embraced both its heritage of bold, sun-kissed wines and a new wave of lighter, more terroir-driven styles. Together, they offer an exciting diversity that resonates strongly with our community — wines that are expressive, approachable, and deeply memorable.
By selecting from these regions, we’re not only following the feedback you’ve given us through Somm Says™, we’re also celebrating two countries that continue to raise the bar for quality and character on the world stage.

This month’s Wine Club Select Tier takes you on a journey through two of the Southern Hemisphere’s most dynamic wine regions: New Zealand and Australia. Both countries have carved out distinctive styles that reflect their landscapes, climates, and pioneering spirit, making them natural complements in a curated selection. Together, they showcase a balance of freshness, elegance, and boldness that makes the Southern Hemisphere such an exciting place for wine lovers to explore.
From New Zealand, we highlight the artistry of Jules Taylor, a winemaker celebrated for her hands-on approach and ability to capture Marlborough’s signature vibrancy beyond Sauvignon Blanc. Her Pinot Gris is juicy and expressive, with stone fruit and citrus notes that mirror the cool climate and maritime breezes of the region. The Pinot Noir offers a different lens on Marlborough — silky, red-fruited, and finely structured — showing how this celebrated region for whites is now producing reds with increasing finesse.
Across the Tasman Sea, Australia brings a diverse set of terroirs to the glass. The Pewsey Vale Dry Riesling from Eden Valley is a benchmark wine, tightly wound and mineral-driven, reflecting the high-altitude vineyards and cooler nights that define this pocket of South Australia. Staying in South Australia, the Thistledown ‘Gorgeous’ Grenache captures the new wave of Australian Grenache — bright, perfumed, and juicy, far removed from the heavier styles of the past. Yalumba’s ‘Samuel’s Collection’ Syrah from Barossa delivers darker fruit and savory spice, a nod to the region’s reputation for bold reds but framed with a modern sense of restraint. Finally, we travel west to Margaret River for Vasse Felix ‘Filius’ Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine that epitomizes why this coastal region has become synonymous with elegance and balance, marrying cassis-driven fruit with refined tannins and cooling ocean influence.
Taken together, this collection showcases the purity and freshness of New Zealand wines alongside the diversity and innovation of Australia’s regional expressions. It’s a lineup that invites you to taste not just individual bottles, but the broader story of two countries redefining modern wine on their own terms.

For our most discerning members, the Private Sommelier Tier offers an unparalleled exploration of classic regions and benchmark producers, curated with an eye toward both prestige and authenticity. This selection spans centuries of winemaking heritage, highlighting houses and domaines that have shaped the very definition of fine wine, while also including rising voices whose craftsmanship and terroir sensitivity mark them as future icons. Each bottle speaks to a unique sense of place, delivering profound expression and longevity for collectors and connoisseurs alike.
The lineup begins with the Veuve Clicquot Demi-Sec, a Champagne that balances richness with vibrancy, ideal not only as a celebratory pour but also as a versatile pairing partner at the table. From Italy’s Piedmont, two Nebbiolo expressions offer distinct perspectives: Azelia di Luigi Scavino’s ‘San Rocco’ Barolo, a rare single-vineyard bottling with depth, power, and extraordinary aging potential, and Gaja’s ‘Dagromis’ Barolo, a more immediately approachable yet still profoundly elegant interpretation from one of Italy’s most revered names.
Austria contributes a gem of precision and texture in Barbara Ohlzelt’s Zöbinger Grüner Veltliner, a Kamptal white that marries bright minerality with subtle orchard fruit, showcasing the cool-climate finesse of the region. From the Rhône, the legendary Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe ‘La Crau’ Châteauneuf-du-Pape offers a commanding expression of one of France’s most iconic vineyards, marrying depth, spice, and garrigue in a wine destined to evolve beautifully over decades. Burgundy lovers will find pure pleasure in Edmond Cornu & Fils ‘Ladoix’ Vieilles Vignes Pinot Noir, a Côte de Beaune expression that draws on old vines to deliver structure, nuance, and classic Burgundian elegance.
Together, these wines encapsulate the heritage, prestige, and artistry of Europe’s greatest wine regions, while providing a dynamic balance of ready-to-enjoy bottles and age-worthy treasures. This is a collection curated for those who not only appreciate exceptional craftsmanship but also the stories and legacies woven into every glass.
