Sensory Description:

In the glass, this Zweigelt displays a dense purple hue with brilliant clarity. Aromas of wild strawberries, plum, and fresh herbs leap from the nose, supported by a subtle mineral edge. The palate is ripe yet lively, unfolding with flavors of juicy black plum, red berries, and a touch of cracked pepper. Balanced acidity and supple tannins carry through to a spicy, savory finish, making it a versatile and food-friendly red with a polished character.

Winemaker's  Background:

Weinbau Erich Sattler is a fourth-generation family estate rooted in the village of Tadten on the east side of Lake Neusiedl. Since taking the reins in 1999, Erich Sattler has championed a minimalist, hands-on approach to viticulture and winemaking. With 22 hectares of sustainably farmed vineyards planted primarily to Zweigelt and St. Laurent, Sattler works without irrigation, limits yields through green harvesting, and relies on hand-harvesting and spontaneous fermentations. His goal: to create smooth, balanced wines that express varietal and site through precision, purity, and finesse.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve slightly chilled at 14–16°C in a Burgundy glass to highlight its fresh fruit and soft texture. A natural partner to pork dishes, mushroom-based pastas, roast poultry, or herbed sausages. Its easygoing structure and savory edge also make it a great choice for casual charcuterie boards or weekday dinners.

The 2021 Weinbau Erich Sattler Zweigelt is a juicy, elegant, and refreshingly honest red wine—perfectly capturing the classic spirit of Austria’s Burgenland in every glass.
