Select Tier

This month’s Select Tier collection takes us on a journey through the breadth of South Africa’s wine country, highlighting six producers whose bottles showcase both tradition and innovation. From Swartland’s old vines to Stellenbosch’s structured reds and Walker Bay’s coastal freshness, this lineup is a celebration of the diversity and distinctive terroir that define South African wine.

The red selections begin with Mullineux’s Kloof Street Rouge from Swartland, a supple Rhône-inspired blend from one of the country’s most acclaimed husband-and-wife winemaking teams. It brims with red berries, spice, and earthy complexity while remaining wonderfully approachable. Alvi’s Drift brings their 221 Special Cuvée from the Western Cape, a polished Bordeaux-style blend that layers cassis and plum with subtle oak spice. From Stellenbosch, Villiera offers a Cabernet Sauvignon that delivers ripe blackcurrant fruit and firm, classic structure, showing why this region remains the heartland of South African Cabernet. Rounding out the reds is Barista Pinotage from Paarl, a modern and expressive take on the country’s signature grape, with its hallmark notes of roasted coffee, chocolate, and dark berry fruit.

On the white side, Mullineux once again represents Swartland with their Kloof Street Old Vine Chenin Blanc. Sourced from dry-farmed bush vines, it offers crisp orchard fruit, citrus zest, and a refreshing mineral backbone, embodying the heritage and vibrancy of Chenin in this region. Creation Sauvignon Blanc from Walker Bay completes the selection with a burst of zesty citrus and tropical fruit lifted by coastal salinity, a bright and pure expression of South Africa’s southern coastline.

Together, these six wines provide a sweeping introduction to South Africa’s wine country, each bottle carrying its own story of place and personality while offering outstanding value and quality.

Premium Tier

This month’s Premium Tier brings together four remarkable wines that showcase both the timeless heritage of Europe and the fresh, artisanal spirit of California. Each bottle offers depth, personality, and a sense of place, creating a collection that invites discovery and conversation.

From Piedmont, Elio Sandri’s Cascina Disa Barbera d’Alba Superiore is a soulful expression of Barbera. Grown in the rolling hills around Monforte d’Alba, this wine marries vibrant cherry and plum fruit with earthy depth and natural elegance, reminding us why Sandri is revered for his traditional approach and patient cellar work. Moving to the Loire Valley, François Chidaine delivers Montlouis-sur-Loire Les Choisilles, a Chenin Blanc that captures the essence of this terroir with notes of quince, honey, citrus, and chalky minerality. It is a wine of precision and longevity, balancing richness with crystalline freshness.

The northern Rhône is represented by Domaine Vincent Paris Cornas Granit 30, a pure Syrah from vines rooted in steep granite slopes. With black fruit, olive, smoked meat, and spice woven into a structured frame, it reflects both the power and finesse of Cornas while remaining approachable in its youth. Crossing over to California, Whitcraft Winery presents My Friend Matt’s Vineyard Syrah from the Santa Ynez Valley. This bottling highlights the winery’s minimal-intervention style, offering juicy dark berry fruit, pepper spice, and a vibrant, lifted profile that shows the energy and brightness of California Syrah when made with a gentle hand.

Together, these wines capture a dialogue between the Old World and New, each crafted by winemakers dedicated to authenticity and place. From Piedmont to the Loire, Cornas to Santa Ynez, this Premium Tier release is both rooted in tradition and alive with innovation.

Private Sommelier Tier

Our Private Sommelier Tier showcases wines chosen for their pedigree, craftsmanship, and ability to offer both immediate pleasure and long-term cellar potential. This small sample highlights the depth of character and range of styles that define our most exclusive tier, where each bottle is selected with the discerning collector in mind.

From the northern Rhône, Domaine Jean-Louis Chave Selection Hermitage Farconnet Syrah delivers all the gravitas one expects from Hermitage. Sourced from choice parcels and shaped by the legacy of one of the Rhône’s most revered families, it combines dense black fruit and graphite minerality with savory layers of smoke, spice, and herbs. Alongside it, Domaine Vincent Paris Cornas Granit 30 represents the new guard of Cornas, offering pure Syrah fruit rooted in granite soils, balancing power with elegance and accessibility.

Champagne is represented by two extraordinary vintage cuvées from Dame de Carreau. The Cuvée Blancs Vrais Extra Brut Millésime is a precise, mineral-driven expression that emphasizes purity and finesse, while the Cuvée Bonnes Bondes Extra Brut Millésime leans richer and more complex, with layers of brioche, orchard fruit, and chalky depth. Together, they showcase Champagne’s artistry in contrasting yet complementary styles.

Finally, from Australia’s Geelong region, By Farr Chardonnay adds a New World counterpoint to this selection. Known for its Burgundian restraint and remarkable balance, this wine offers a tapestry of citrus, stone fruit, and subtle oak wrapped in tension and length, revealing why By Farr is considered among Australia’s most exciting cool-climate producers.

The Private Sommelier Tier is designed for those who seek not only outstanding wines but also bottles with provenance, aging potential, and stories worth sharing. From Hermitage and Cornas to Champagne and Geelong, this release reflects the kind of elevated curation our private clients can expect each month.
