Sensory Description
Clear and luminous in the glass, this Gavi opens with lifted aromas of white peach, yellow apple, and lime zest, accented by hints of papaya and soft floral tones. A supple, creamy texture on the palate gives way to a mineral-driven core, threaded with herbal notes of sage and thyme. Flinty and focused, it finishes with fine acidity and an elegant, lingering salinity.

Winemaker’s Background
The roots of Tenuta San Lorenzo run deep, with historical records tracing the estate—then known as “Il Grattone”—back to the 1600s. The Cazzulo family’s winemaking journey began in the early 20th century when Attilio Cazzulo crafted wine for the local market. In 1966, his sons Luigi and Giambattista purchased the current property in Novi Ligure, turning their passion and experience into a family-run estate focused on the production of Gavi. With their wives, Rosa and Delia, they planted vineyards, tended the land by hand, and helped elevate Gavi to DOC status by 1974. Today, the estate is stewarded by the next generation: Corrado, who oversees the vineyards and winemaking, and Mirella, who manages hospitality and commercial operations. Tenuta San Lorenzo stands not only as a working winery but also as a custodian of the region’s viticultural and historical legacy—including its role in the 1799 Battle of Novi Ligure. With 18 organically farmed hectares, the family continues to craft wines of integrity and place, honoring a heritage passed down through generations.

Serving Suggestions
Serve chilled at 45–50°F in a white wine glass to highlight its mineral clarity and citrus-laced aromatics. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with antipasti, grilled sea bass, creamy risottos, or vegetable dishes featuring leeks, fennel, or artichokes. Its clean finish and herbal lift also make it a perfect partner for Ligurian seafood fare.

This benchmark Gavi channels the elegance of its noble past with the vitality of organic farming and family craftsmanship. It’s a wine of layered precision and quiet power—rooted in tradition, alive with freshness.
