Briny Atlantic breezes, granitic soils, and a multi-generational passion for viticulture converge in the 2023 Bodegas y Viñedos Attis ‘Xion’ Albariño from Rías Baixas. This coastal white captures the essence of Galicia’s maritime character, with its vibrant energy and purity echoing the sea that shapes it. Crafted from hand-harvested fruit and guided by low-intervention winemaking, ‘Xion’ offers a beautifully textured and precise expression of Albariño rooted in both place and tradition.

Sensory Description
Glinting pale yellow with green highlights, this Albariño exudes coastal clarity and tension. Aromatics of white peach, Meyer lemon, and grapefruit zest are lifted by hints of honeysuckle and sea spray. The palate is sleek yet juicy, led by bracing acidity and a mineral backbone. Stone fruit notes unfurl into salted citrus, crushed granite, and a flicker of white pepper, finishing long with a mouthwatering salinity and refreshing lift.

Winemaker’s Background
The Fariña family formally founded Bodegas y Viñedos Attis in 2000, after years of acquiring small vineyard plots around their native Pontevedra. Drawing on three generations of grape-growing experience, they shifted their focus from selling fruit to producing wines under their own label. In 2011, they inaugurated a modern winery and brought on oenologist Jean-François Hébrard, who has since guided their transition to organic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking. Today, Attis stands as one of Galicia’s few certified organic estates, crafting precise yet approachable wines that respect both the land and local tradition. The winery’s name, “Attis,” references the mythological symbol of death and rebirth—a reflection of both nature’s rhythms and the family’s own evolution.

Serving Suggestions
Serve chilled at 46–50°F. ‘Xion’ makes a bright aperitif and pairs effortlessly with raw oysters, scallop crudo, smoked salmon, tempura, lemony seafood pasta, or soft-ripened goat cheese. Its brisk acidity and saline finish also make it an excellent match for coastal cuisine and shellfish-focused dishes.
