Henriot Brut Souverain is the historic cuvée of Maison Henriot, first created in 1808 by Apolline Henriot. With a vision to express the full story of her terroirs, Apolline pioneered the practice of holding back reserve wines year after year, blending them with the current vintage to craft a Champagne of depth, complexity, and continuity. Today, Brut Souverain remains the house’s most iconic expression, a multi-cru, multi-vintage blend that captures the elegance, richness, and artistry of Maison Henriot.

Sensory Description:

Henriot Brut Souverain greets the glass with a pale golden hue and fine, persistent bubbles. The nose opens to a ballet of aromas, citrus zest and fresh-baked cake layered with ripe stone fruits, red berries, and a whisper of smoke evolving into chalky minerality. On the palate, the Champagne is ample and round yet precise, balancing generosity with structure. Notes of apple, almond, and toasted brioche mingle with bright acidity and minerality, leading to a long, refreshing finish of persistence and finesse.

Winemaker's Background:

Maison Henriot has remained one of the few independent, family-owned Champagne houses since its founding in 1808. Guided by a legacy of blending mastery, the Henriot family cultivates around 35 hectares of vineyards across the Vallée de la Marne, Montagne de Reims, and Côte des Blancs, complemented by long-standing grower partnerships. Pinot Noir is sourced mainly from premier and grand cru vineyards of the Montagne de Reims, while Chardonnay hails from the Côte des Blancs, grapes that define Henriot’s signature style of precision and elegance. The house has earned a reputation for crafting Champagnes of balance, depth, and enduring refinement, a tradition that continues under the stewardship of the Henriot family and cellar master Alice Tétienne.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve Henriot Brut Souverain well-chilled at 9–12 °C in a flute or tulip glass to highlight its freshness and complexity. It makes an excellent aperitif on its own or pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as toro tuna tartare with yuzu, shellfish, or soft cheeses. The Champagne’s balance of fruit, minerality, and toasty richness allows it to shine across a wide range of pairings, making it a versatile and elegant choice for celebrations and fine dining alike.

Henriot Brut Souverain is more than a Champagne; it is a timeless expression of Maison Henriot’s artistry and history. A cuvée that unites tradition with elegance, it continues to illuminate the terroirs of Champagne just as Apolline Henriot envisioned over two centuries ago.
