Rooted in the rich soils of Swartland, South Africa, the Kloovenberg 'Eight Feet' Red Blend is a testament to family heritage and the art of winemaking. Founded in 1956 by the du Toit and De Kock families, Kloovenberg emerged from humble beginnings. With a background in sheep farming and business, the founders embarked on a viticultural journey that would anchor the estate's legacy. The family's commitment, from the patriarchs to the involvement of their children, has fostered a culture of passion and excellence, culminating in the creation of the 'Eight Feet' brand—a homage to the collective effort of the family's four sons in the vineyard and cellar.

Production Highlights:

The 2019 vintage of 'Eight Feet' is a masterful blend of Shiraz (67%), Grenache (17%), Carignan (11%), and Mourvèdre (5%), reflecting the diverse terroir of Swartland. Vineyards range from 7 to 18 years old, with Shiraz trellised and the others grew as high-density bush vines. The grapes are handpicked in the cool of the morning and undergo a meticulous vinification process, including cold soaking, spontaneous fermentation in open fermenters, and extended skin contact. The wine matures in a mix of new and seasoned French oak barrels for 16 months, achieving a perfect balance of fruit, tannin, and oak.
