In the rugged hills of Condado do Tea, just a stone’s throw from Portugal, Bodega Destinos Cruzados is redefining what Rías Baixas red wines can be. Their ‘As Regadas’ is a testament to Galicia’s long-forgotten native varietals, blending Brancellao, Caiño Longo, and Sousón into a soulful, small-production expression of the region. The hands-off winemaking approach—organic farming, native yeast fermentation, foot treading, and aging in seasoned French oak—preserves the purity of fruit and the distinct granite minerality of the vineyards. With just over 2,000 bottles produced annually, this is a rare and captivating taste of Spain’s Atlantic coast.

Sensory Description:

Aromatic and vibrant, ‘As Regadas’ leaps from the glass with notes of wild red berries, balsamic undertones, and hints of sweet spice and mountain herbs. The palate is a lively interplay of juicy raspberry and tart cherry, lifted by bright acidity and subtle earthiness. Fine-grained tannins provide structure, while a lingering finish of spice and minerality keeps you coming back for more. It’s an elegant, fresh, and fruit-driven expression of Galicia’s Atlantic reds.

Winemaker’s Background:

Destinos Cruzados is the brainchild of Óscar Cidanes Domínguez and Marcial Dorado, two passionate winemakers reclaiming the rich viticultural history of Condado do Tea. While the region is best known for its Albariño, their focus extends to nearly forgotten red varieties—Brancellao, Caiño, Espadeiro, and Sousón—bringing them back to life through careful organic farming and minimal intervention. Their vineyards, set on sandy granite soils near the Portuguese border, produce wines with tension, depth, and a unique sense of place. With a total production of just 10,000 bottles across all their wines, every release is a special glimpse into the history and future of Galician wine.

Serving Suggestions:

Best served slightly chilled (55-60°F) to highlight its bright fruit and crisp acidity. Pair with grilled lamb chops, roasted duck, or earthy vegetarian dishes like wild mushroom risotto. Its fresh, herbal undertones also make it a great match for Galician-style octopus or charcuterie with smoked Spanish chorizo.
