The 2023 Xanadu Chardonnay exemplifies the pristine quality and vibrant expression of Margaret River’s Wallcliffe sub-region. Sourced predominantly from Xanadu’s estate vineyards, including Stevens Road, Boodjidup, and Lagan, this wine reflects the Gingin clone’s unique intensity and balance. The cool, late-ripening conditions of the vintage allowed the fruit to retain its natural acidity, resulting in a wine that seamlessly balances freshness and complexity.

Noteworthy Awards:
The 2023 Xanadu Chardonnay received 95 points from Paul Edwards of The West Australian, who highlighted its flamboyant expression and zippy flavors. It also earned 94 points from 2025 Halliday Wine Companion for its vibrant acidity and precise balance, along with a Silver Medal at the 2024 International Wine & Spirits Competition.

Sensory Description:
This Chardonnay displays a pale straw hue with a slight green tinge and a bouquet of fresh pears and grapefruit, layered with delicate hints of frangipani and flinty barrel ferment characters. The medium-bodied palate is a harmonious blend of white-fleshed nectarines, citrus, and nashi pears, enhanced by a subtle saline, oyster shell thread. Lees stirring during maturation imparts a creamy texture that balances the bright, vibrant acidity, culminating in a refined, lingering finish.

Producer's Background:
Xanadu has been a cornerstone of Margaret River winemaking since 1977, consistently producing wines that reflect the region’s unique terroir. Under the guidance of Senior Winemaker Glenn Goodall, the estate continues to craft Chardonnay that embodies precision, sustainability, and the hallmark freshness of the Wallcliffe sub-region.

Serving Suggestions:
Best served slightly chilled at 50–54°F, the 2023 Xanadu Chardonnay pairs beautifully with a range of dishes, from fresh seafood and shellfish to lemon-herb roasted chicken or creamy risottos. Its vibrant acidity and refined complexity make it an ideal choice for both immediate enjoyment and extended cellaring over the next 7–10 years.
