Sensory Description:

The nose bursts with freshly cooked agave layered over flinty minerality, popcorn, and a distinctive bouquet of white pepper, clove, and hints of green apple and almond. On the palate, it’s an agave lover’s dream, immense, mouth-coating waves of peppery spice and citrus unfold with background notes of pine, cinnamon, cooling menthol, and a touch of cream soda sweetness. The finish is long, spicy, and brilliantly dry, leaving behind echoes of white pepper and subtle herbal complexity.

Awards & Accolades:

  • Bronze Medal – San Francisco World Spirits Competition (2022)

Distiller's Background:

La Alteña Distillery was founded in 1937 by Don Felipe Camarena, a third-generation agave grower who set out to produce tequila with purity, patience, and passion. Today, the distillery remains family-owned and is operated by master distiller Carlos Camarena, Don Felipe’s grandson. La Alteña is revered for its commitment to time-honored production methods, slow cooking in brick ovens, tahona crushing, and open-air fermentation, which set the standard for heritage tequila. It is also home to other beloved brands like El Tesoro and Ocho.

Serving Suggestions:

Tapatio Blanco is ideally enjoyed neat or in a traditional tequila-tasting flight to experience its raw, unaged beauty. It also performs beautifully in a Tommy’s Margarita, Paloma, or even a zesty tequila and tonic. Serve slightly chilled, between 60–65°F, to allow the agave aromatics to fully express.

Tapatio Tequila Blanco is pure, vibrant, and unapologetically agave-forward. Whether you're sipping it solo or crafting cocktails with intention, it delivers the kind of layered, peppery complexity that defines the very soul of great tequila.
