From the sunny Wairau Valley of Marlborough, the Sea Cove Sauvignon Blanc showcases the culmination of a thoughtful collaboration between Valkyrie and Sugar Loaf Winery. Sugar Loaf is a 26-hectare estate located in Blenheim, an area celebrated for its old, gravelly riverbed soils that lend distinctive character to the wines. The vineyards, among the oldest Sauvignon Blanc plantings in Marlborough, are meticulously managed in blocks tailored to soil type, vine age, and character. With a farming philosophy rooted in sustainability and stewardship, the winery embraces a “light touch,” taking a 100-year perspective on their practices. Certified sustainable by Sustainable Wine Growing NZ, Sugar Loaf Winery is committed to leaving its land in better condition for future generations.

Sensory Description
This vibrant Sauvignon Blanc bursts with the bright, exotic aromas of makrut lime, tropical passion fruit, and orange blossom, accented by subtle herbal undertones. On the palate, the wine is refreshing and zesty, delivering layers of citrus, stony minerality, and a clean, linear structure. The balance between fruit intensity and crisp acidity makes it equally enjoyable on its own or paired with a variety of dishes.

Winemaker's Background
Trudy Shield, the talented woman winemaker behind Sea Cove, embodies the forward-thinking philosophy of Sugar Loaf Winery. Her dedication to natural practices and precision winemaking is evident in every bottle. The estate’s history and its unique terroir are reflected in her approach, ensuring each vintage speaks authentically of the land and its legacy.

Serving Suggestions
Serve this Sauvignon Blanc chilled at 45–50°F. It’s a delightful pairing for fresh seafood, including fish and shellfish, or white meats like grilled chicken or turkey. For a vegetarian option, try it with a citrus-dressed green salad or goat cheese. Its tropical and citrus notes also make it a wonderful complement to Asian-inspired dishes, especially those with lime and lemongrass.
