Sensory Description:

The 2021 Cuvée Raphaël opens with lifted aromas of ripe cherry, cassis, and faint floral undertones. On the palate, the wine is structured yet balanced, with soft tannins lending depth without harshness. Juicy red and black fruits stay front and center, framed by refreshing acidity and a subtle mineral edge. A wine of precision and grace, it finishes long, clean, and satisfying.

Winemaker's Background:

Founded in 1570, Château de Parenchère is located on the eastern fringe of Bordeaux, near Sainte-Foy-La-Grande. Under the current ownership of Per Landin and guided by winemaker Richard Curty, the estate spans 168 acres of vine-planted hillsides. Thanks to excellent drainage and prolonged sun exposure, grapes ripen consistently, even in difficult vintages. The estate prioritizes matching grape varieties to terroir rather than trends, resulting in wines of classic structure and expressive personality.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve the 2021 Château de Parenchère Cuvée Raphaël at 16–18 °C (60–64 °F) in a large Bordeaux-style glass to unlock its aromatic complexity. It pairs beautifully with ribeye steaks, roasted vegetables, or herb-crusted lamb. Decant for 30–60 minutes if drinking young to soften the tannins and reveal its full aromatic depth.

This vintage of Cuvée Raphaël is a worthy tribute to its namesake, layered, polished, and full of character. A compelling Bordeaux Supérieur that showcases the pedigree of the estate and its commitment to craftsmanship.
