Sensory Description:

The 2019 vintage opens with enticing aromas of black currant, ripe black cherry, and hints of bay leaf and forest floor, lifted by gentle vanilla. On the palate, it is bright and structured, with layers of juicy black fruit, vibrant acidity, and youthful tannins. The long finish leaves behind savory notes of rosemary and pimento, suggesting strong aging potential.

Winemaker's Background:

Grgich Hills Estate was founded in 1977 by Miljenko “Mike” Grgich and Austin Hills, just a year after Grgich’s legendary victory at the 1976 Judgment of Paris, where his 1973 Chateau Montelena Chardonnay stunned the wine world by outperforming France’s finest white Burgundies. Mike Grgich, a Croatian-born winemaker, brought with him an uncompromising commitment to quality and terroir-driven winemaking. Today, the winery remains family-owned and continues to craft wines of integrity, guided by principles of sustainability and respect for the land.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 60–65°F in a large Bordeaux glass to capture its aromatic complexity and structure. This Cabernet Sauvignon pairs beautifully with grilled ribeye, rosemary lamb chops, or wild mushroom risotto, and can be enjoyed now or cellared for a decade or more to reveal its full depth.

2019 Grgich Hills Estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley, USA, stands as a timeless expression of heritage, precision, and place.
