Sensory Description:

This is a bold yet focused Chardonnay, showing the gravitas of extended barrel aging without sacrificing freshness. Aromas of yellow apple, grilled lemon peel, and toasted hazelnut lift from the glass, followed by creamy textures on the palate layered with golden pear, beeswax, and a flicker of baking spice. The oak influence is present but impeccably restrained, adding breadth and structure without overwhelming the fruit. A streak of stony minerality runs through the wine, leading to a long, savory finish that demands attention.

Winemaker's Background:

Pray Tell is the creation of Tom Caruso, winemaker, owner, and visionary, whose journey from helping his grandfather make wine in South Philadelphia to founding his winery is rooted in a blend of tradition and exploration. After stints in Brooklyn, Sonoma, and Oregon, Tom launched Pray Tell in 2017 as an earnest expression of low-intervention, site-driven wines. Today, his winery in the Olde Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia honors his family legacy while pushing the boundaries of artisanal American winemaking.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 50–55°F in a Burgundy glass to highlight its layered complexity. This Chardonnay is a versatile partner at the table, pair it with roasted chicken and tarragon cream, triple-cream cheeses, or seared scallops with brown butter. It also holds its own with richer dishes like braised pork belly or fried oysters with aioli.

This limited-production 2020 Pray Tell Chardonnay from the Willamette Valley, USA, showcases Tom Caruso’s exacting commitment to purity, elegance, and the true potential of Oregon Chardonnay.
