Punchy, pure, and proudly unpolished, the Portland Wine Co. Garageland Pinot Noir is a rebellious love letter to Oregon’s wine counterculture. Sourced from a mix of sub-AVAs and vineyards within Willamette Valley, this Pinot is anything but formulaic, crafted with a low-intervention ethos and named in tribute to The Clash, it hums with raw fruit energy, wild aromatics, and the pulse of natural acidity. It’s the kind of wine that plays well on vinyl, tastes like indie magic, and speaks to anyone who’s ever created something behind a roll-up garage door.

Sensory Description:

This Pinot opens with lifted aromatics of wild strawberry, crushed cherry, and a hint of dried rose. On the palate, it's sleek and lively, with red berry fruit, subtle spice, and a touch of forest floor grounding its natural brightness. The wine's structure is seamless, with fine tannins, vibrant acidity, and just the right touch of savory complexity for a long, balanced finish. It’s a bottle that stays nimble yet soulful, and one that rewards both casual sipping and deeper exploration.

Winemaker's Background:

Founded by winemaker Matt Berson, Portland Wine Co. was born out of a passion for small-lot, expressive wines crafted with authenticity and care. After apprenticing across the globe, in New Zealand, Napa, Germany, and Argentina, Matt returned to Oregon with a desire to make honest wines that reflect site and vintage. His wife, designer Angela Reat, brings her creative brilliance to the winery’s visual identity and operations. Together, they run the Love & Squalor label and the Portland Wine Company tasting room, emphasizing minimal intervention, sustainability, and deep connections to their grower partners across the Willamette Valley.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 15–18°C (59–64°F) in Burgundy stems. This versatile Pinot Noir pairs beautifully with wild mushroom risotto, roasted duck, cedar plank salmon, or herb-rubbed pork loin. For a more casual occasion, try it with grilled veggie skewers or a good old-fashioned Margherita pizza.

The 2023 Portland Wine Co. Garageland Pinot Noir delivers a rebellious charm wrapped in purity and finesse, an ode to Oregon's indie spirit and a reminder that great wine doesn’t need to play by anyone else’s rules.
