Sensory Description:

Deep garnet red in color, this Chianti opens with fragrant aromas of dried oregano, intertwined with dark and red cherries. On the palate, it reveals layers of ripe cherry, plum, and subtle herbal notes, carried by grainy, well-integrated tannins that typify traditional Chianti. Fresh acidity provides vibrancy and lift, while the finish is persistent, balanced, and elegant. The marine soils impart a refined minerality that underscores its complexity and authenticity.

Winemaker's Background:

The Poggiotondo estate, founded in 1968 by Carlo Antonini and now guided by Alberto and Alessandra Antonini, is dedicated to crafting wines that express the true soul of Chianti. With a philosophy rooted in tradition and respect for nature, the estate has embraced organic viticulture, encouraging biodiversity and allowing the vineyards to thrive without synthetic chemicals. Their approach results in wines of authenticity, depth, and longevity, carrying forward more than 140 years of Tuscan winemaking heritage.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) in large glasses to allow the aromas to fully open. This versatile Chianti pairs beautifully with antipasti, hearty vegetable dishes, Tuscan soups, pizzas, roasted white meats, and classic Italian roasts. For a refined pairing, enjoy it with paccheri alla carbonara with artichokes or aged cheeses. Its freshness and structure also make it a reliable partner for Mediterranean fare.

Crafted from organically farmed vines rooted in marine soils and shaped by Alberto Antonini’s vision, this Chianti represents both tradition and innovation. With its critical acclaim, vibrant fruit character, and food-friendly style, it is a wine that not only reflects the greatness of the 2021 vintage but also the enduring heritage of Tuscany.
