Bold in body, expressive in personality, and brimming with summer-drenched charm, the 2024 Ferraris Sensazioni Monferrato Viognier from Piedmont, Italy, proves that white wine from this region can be just as riveting as its reds. Born of the bold decision to plant Viognier in the heart of Castagnole Monferrato in 2006, this wine bursts onto the scene with exotic fruit aromatics and a full, confident structure, living up to its name, which translates simply as "Sensations."

Sensory Description:

This luminous white offers an expressive bouquet of ripe tropical fruit, including papaya, mango, and yellow peach, layered over fragrant honeysuckle and subtle citrus zest. On the palate, it is generously textured with a rounded body and refreshing acidity, balancing lush fruit flavors with elegant minerality and a whisper of leesy richness. The result is a Viognier with both grip and grace.

Winemaker's Background:

Ferraris Agricola traces its roots back to 1921, when Teresa Ferraris bought the original family home in Castagnole Monferrato with gold rush proceeds sent from California by her husband Luigi. For much of the 20th century, grape-growing remained a passion project until Luca Ferraris, a trained agronomist, took over in 1999. His arrival marked a turning point: Ferraris Agricola became one of the first in the region to focus on high-quality bottled wine, specializing in Ruchè and expanding into innovative whites like this Viognier.

Serving Suggestions:

Best served at 8–10°C, the 2024 Ferraris Sensazioni Monferrato Viognier pairs beautifully with sushi, seared shellfish, grilled white meats, and creamy cheeses. It also complements the bold spices of Southeast Asian curry dishes, making it an exceptionally versatile white for global cuisine.

The Ferraris estate has been a symbol of innovation in Monferrato since Luca Ferraris revitalized the family vineyards in 1999. Now operating with sustainable certification and youthful energy, Ferraris Agricola is a force in modern Piedmontese winemaking. The wines reflect both tradition and the entrepreneurial drive to push boundaries, just as this Viognier does.
