Sensory Description:

Brilliant ruby red with violet highlights, the 2023 Selvapiana Chianti Rufina opens with an aromatic bouquet of fresh berries, ripe cherries, wild herbs, and subtle leather, accented by menthol and orange peel. The palate is medium-bodied, lively, and juicy, offering flavors of red currant and dark cherry balanced by earthy spice and fine-grained, silky tannins. Bright acidity carries through to a crisp, citrus-laced finish, making this wine both approachable and layered in character.

Awards & Accolades:

  • James Suckling: “Bright and fragrant with floral notes, red berries, orange peel and a hint of wild herbs. Straightforward and juicy with crisp tannins and a crisp, citrus-influenced finish.”

Winemaker's Background:

Fattoria Selvapiana is one of Chianti Rufina’s most historic and respected estates, with records tracing the property back to the 15th century. Today, it is led by Federico Giuntini-Antinori, who has preserved the estate’s traditions while championing sustainable viticulture and terroir-driven winemaking. With vineyards spread across San Martino a Quona, Pian de’ Marroni, and Cerbognole, Selvapiana consistently produces wines that embody elegance, authenticity, and value.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 16–18 °C. A versatile companion at the table, it pairs beautifully with Tuscan-inspired dishes such as pizza, pasta with tomato-based sauces, lasagne, or risotto. It also complements roasted poultry, light game, medium-aged cheeses, and hearty snacks, offering both refreshment and depth alongside everyday meals.

This vintage highlights all that makes Rufina unique, bright fruit, vivid acidity, and refined tannins wrapped in an elegant, food-friendly frame. With excellent value, historic pedigree, and a profile that is both classic and approachable, it stands as a benchmark for Chianti Rufina.
