Sensory Description:

The nose opens with an inviting bouquet of ripe pear, baked apple, and delicate white flowers, seamlessly layered over wet stone minerality. On the palate, it presents a finely tuned balance of richness and precision, with flavors of orchard fruits, subtle citrus, and hints of honeyed almond. The bright acidity and soft curves of texture deliver a persistent finish, highlighting the wine’s tension, depth, and finesse while preserving its hallmark Jura minerality.

Winemaker's Background:

Founded in 2012, Domaine du Pelican is the Jura project of Guillaume d’Angerville of Volnay’s famed Marquis d’Angerville estate. Inspired by a revelatory blind tasting of Jura Chardonnay, Guillaume collaborated with geologist Yves Hérody to meticulously select and acquire prime vineyard sites in Arbois. Today, under the stewardship of François Duvivier, the domaine farms 15 hectares biodynamically, focusing on meticulous viticulture and a restrained Burgundian approach in the cellar. With sites like En Barbi and Grand Curoulet, Domaine du Pelican produces some of the Jura’s most elegant, precise, and terroir-driven wines, combining Burgundy's sophistication with the Jura's wild beauty.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve lightly chilled at 10–12°C (50–54°F) in a Burgundy bowl to allow its full aromatic profile to unfold. This Chardonnay pairs beautifully with delicate seafood dishes such as seared scallops or Dover sole, roasted chicken with morels, creamy risottos, or Comté cheese. Its subtle richness and minerality also shine alongside vegetable terrines and fine charcuterie.

The Domaine du Pelican Arbois 'Grand Curoulet' Chardonnay, Jura, France is a profound expression of site and craft, embodying both Jura’s unique terroir and the finesse of Burgundian winemaking—a wine of rare balance, depth, and pure pleasure.
