Domaine de Fa’s Roche Guillon is a Fleurie that beautifully bridges the gap between elegance and power. The Graillot family, renowned for their masterful Syrah in the Northern Rhône, turned their attention to Beaujolais in 2013, drawn by a love for Gamay and the region’s striking terroir. This single-vineyard Fleurie, from one of the highest-altitude sites in the appellation, delivers a structured yet vibrant expression of Gamay—floral, mineral-driven, and wildly compelling.

Sensory Description

This high-altitude Fleurie is all about energy and finesse. Aromas of spice-kissed raspberry and juicy boysenberry lead into layers of smoky minerals, wildflowers, and a whisper of black pepper. The palate is sappy and vibrant, with a tension that makes each sip feel electric. Floral and lifted yet structured, it carries a wet-stone minerality that lingers long after the last sip. Decant for an hour or serve slightly chilled to let its complexity unfold.

Winemaker’s Background

Maxime and Antoine Graillot, already revered for their Northern Rhône wines, expanded their winemaking journey northward in 2013, acquiring organically farmed sites in Fleurie and Saint-Amour. Their approach mirrors their Rhône philosophy—working with whole clusters, using native yeasts, and focusing on freshness and purity. With Roche Guillon, they’ve crafted a Fleurie that stands out for its altitude, tension, and undeniable sense of place.

Serving Suggestions

Chill slightly (around 55°F) and enjoy with antipasti, soft cheeses, or a rustic mushroom tart. It also shines alongside grilled lamb, duck breast, or a simple roast chicken with herbs. A perfect bottle for those who love the elegance of Beaujolais with a bit more structure and spice.
