Sensory Description:
Pale lemon yellow, the nose bursts with ripe Bosc pear, passion fruit, and grapefruit zest, followed by accents of candied lemon peel. On the palate, it’s brisk and mineral-driven with flavors of dried mango, pineapple, and lime zest, finishing with a subtle savory edge and mouthwatering acidity. Its texture is both mouth-coating and lifted, making it as complex as it is refreshing.
Winemaker's Background:
Château La Rame is one of the oldest and most celebrated estates in the Sainte-Croix-du-Mont appellation, located 40 kilometers southeast of Bordeaux. The estate, with panoramic views of the Garonne River, once belonged to the Baron de Vertheuil and has a legacy of award-winning wines dating back to the 19th century. Yves Armand, whose father Claude purchased the estate during a downturn in the region’s reputation, has since led a revival of Sainte-Croix-du-Mont, aiming to restore its prestige alongside top Sauternes and Barsac producers.
Serving Suggestions:
Serve well chilled at 6–8°C (43–46°F). This wine pairs beautifully with seafood such as grilled halibut or smoked eel, soft cheeses like Tomme de Savoie, or pasta dishes with prosciutto cream and herbs. It also makes an elegant aperitif.
This brilliant expression of Sauvignon Blanc from Chateau La Rame is proof that Bordeaux’s whites can dazzle with texture, verve, and character. With every sip of the 2024 vintage, you taste the limestone hills, the river breeze, and the legacy of a producer committed to elevating their terroir.
