Rich and expressive, the 2016 Château du Moulin Noir Lussac-Saint-Émilion captures the elegance and structure of Bordeaux’s Right Bank. From its plush Merlot foundation to the depth imparted by Cabernet Franc, this wine balances ripe fruit intensity with a graceful, lingering finish, making it a true showcase of Lussac’s clay-limestone terroir.

Product Details:

  • Varietal: 80% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc
  • Alcohol: 14% ABV
  • Vineyard Size: 9.8 hectares on clay-limestone slopes
  • Fermentation: Stainless steel tanks with pump-overs 3 times daily, maceration for 3–4 weeks
  • Aging: 12 months in French oak barriques (20–25% new)

Sensory Description:

Aromas of ripe black cherries, dark plums, and blackberry compote are layered with tobacco, subtle vanilla, and hints of spice from oak maturation. The palate is generous and full-bodied, showing velvety tannins and balanced acidity that frame flavors of cassis, cherry liqueur, cedar, and earthy undertones. The finish is long and complex, revealing elegant mineral notes and persistent dark fruit.

Winemaker's Background:

Château du Moulin Noir is a boutique estate rooted in the traditions of Bordeaux’s Right Bank. Nestled in Fronsac, with holdings in the Lussac-Saint-Émilion appellation, the winery is dedicated to producing small-lot, terroir-driven wines that highlight finesse, elegance, and aging potential. With an emphasis on sustainable practices and meticulous vineyard care, the château reflects the deep history and enduring quality of the Saint-Émilion satellite appellations.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 16–18°C after decanting for at least 45 minutes. This wine pairs beautifully with roasted duck, beef Wellington, venison stew, or mushroom-driven vegetarian dishes such as eggplant parmesan. For cheese, opt for creamy Brie, tangy Roquefort, nutty Manchego, or aged Gruyère. Its complexity also makes it an ideal partner for celebratory dinners and refined evenings.

The 2016 Château du Moulin Noir Lussac-Saint-Émilion is a classic Right Bank Bordeaux, polished, structured, and deeply expressive, offering both immediate pleasure and excellent cellaring potential.
