Sensory Description:

A wine of lift and luminosity, this Gamay bursts with tart red cherry, cranberry, and wild strawberry, wrapped in a delicate floral veil of violet and rose petals. Earthy tones of graphite and crushed volcanic stone lend serious depth, while the high-altitude acidity and semi-carbonic lift bring a refreshing crunch to the palate. It's silky, stony, and explosively aromatic, with a long, energetic finish echoing spice, herbs, and wet rock.

Winemaker's Background:

Baptiste Nayrand is part of a new generation redefining what Gamay can be. Based in the tiny appellation of Coteaux du Lyonnais, nestled between Beaujolais and the Northern Rhône, Nayrand established his domaine in 2014 with no inherited vines, just vision and grit. Working entirely alone across just over six hectares, he farms without chemicals and vinifies without additives, capturing the raw beauty of the terrain. His vineyards, planted on ancient volcanic soils at soaring altitudes, yield wines that are naturally electric and strikingly singular.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve lightly chilled at 55–58°F to highlight its freshness and aromatic lift. Ideal alongside charcuterie boards, roast chicken with herbs, mushroom tartlets, or grilled duck breast. A natural fit for casual bistros and fine tables alike, this wine thrives with savory fare and fresh company.

Few wines capture the tension between wildness and precision as beautifully as the 2021 Baptiste Nayrand 'Toit du Monde'. With volcanic energy, high-altitude grace, and unadulterated purity, it offers a compelling window into the future of Gamay, alive, untamed, and unforgettable.
