Nestled just 15 kilometers north of Saint-Estèphe in the quiet village of Saint-Christoly-Médoc, the 2018 Vignobles Faget Château L'Eden is the heartfelt vision of Amélie and Fabien Faget, a couple who built their Bordeaux dream from the ground up. From this tiny slice of paradise, their “Eden,” comes a Médoc red that captures both the rustic charm of the Left Bank and the nuanced warmth of a new-generation estate.

Sensory Description:

Medium-bodied with soft tannins, this wine opens with a supple blend of red and black fruits accented by subtle licorice. While it leans into plushness, there’s a gentle savory thread that gives it personality. Though it doesn’t aim for bombast, it offers a clean, fruit-driven experience with hints of spice and earth in the finish.

Awards & Accolades:

  • Vinous (Mar 2021): “A mixture of red and black fruit on the nose… medium-bodied with soft tannins and sweet, licorice-infused black fruit… needs more precision on the finish.”

Winemaker's Background:

Château L'Eden was founded in 2016 when Amélie and Fabien Faget traded ambition for authenticity and set their roots in Saint-Christoly-Médoc. Their estate spans 20 acres of 40-year-old vines perched along the Gironde Estuary. Combining traditional Bordeaux cépage with modern sensibility, the couple embraces low-intervention winemaking with sustainable farming at the core. Their goal? To craft wines that embody the elegance of Médoc terroir without the pretense.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F) in a wide-bowled glass to enhance its delicate aromatics. This wine pairs beautifully with grilled lamb, roasted duck, or hard cheeses like Comté and Manchego. Decanting for 30 minutes is recommended to soften the tannins and open the wine's earthy undertones.

This 2018 Vignobles Faget Château L'Eden is an expressive yet easygoing Bordeaux, built on heritage, fueled by passion, and finished with a nod to the future. It’s a quiet overachiever that proves great things can come from small beginnings.
