Avery Brewing Co.

Avery Brewing Co. began in 1993 as a passion project born from Adam Avery’s decision to trade a future in law for the world of brewing. What started as a humble operation in a small warehouse has grown into a regional brewing powerhouse in Boulder, Colorado, celebrated for its creativity, quality, and innovation. Adam’s journey from homebrewer to master brewer was made possible by his unwavering enthusiasm for the craft and his father Larry’s willingness to invest in his son’s vision. Together, they laid the foundation for a brewery that has become a centerpiece in the craft beer world.

Over the years, Avery Brewing earned acclaim for its diverse range of beer styles, producing iconic brews like the White Rascal Belgian-Style White Ale, which garnered recognition at the Great American Beer Festival. Early production challenges, due to small-scale fermenters, couldn’t dampen the brewery’s growth. By 2015, Avery Brewing opened a state-of-the-art facility in Boulder—a 67,000-square-foot space that doubled its brewing capacity and set the stage for even greater ambitions, with the potential to produce up to 500,000 barrels annually. As part of its evolution, Avery entered into partnerships with Spain’s Mahou-San Miguel Group and Founders Brewing Company, which have helped support its continued growth and broadened distribution across the United States.

A visit to Avery Brewing’s Tap Room and Restaurant is a quintessential Boulder experience. Offering over 30 taps featuring year-round beers and exclusive small-batch creations, it’s a haven for beer lovers. Chef Chris Blackwood’s seasonal menu, spotlighting locally sourced ingredients, pairs perfectly with Avery’s brews. Signature dishes like a fried chicken sandwich and house-smoked meats add a culinary dimension to the brewery’s offerings, making it a place for both hearty meals and casual gatherings.

Avery Brewing’s beers reflect its adventurous spirit, with styles ranging from the classic Avery IPA to bold creations like Rumpkin, a spiced pumpkin beer aged in rum barrels, boasting an impressive 15–18% ABV. Whether it’s a crisp White Rascal on a sunny patio or a robust barrel-aged brew savored by the fire, Avery’s portfolio ensures a beer for every palate and occasion. Today, the brewery stands as both a local gathering spot and a nationally celebrated brand, embodying the essence of community, innovation, and the joy of craft beer.
