Product Details:
- ABV: 8%
- Style: Double IPA / Hazy IPA
- Hops: Proprietary blend of six hops
- Malts: Proprietary
Sensory Description: Heady Topper opens with bold aromas of pine, citrus, tropical fruit, and a touch of earthy spice, complemented by subtle notes of sweet tobacco and grassiness. On the palate, expect a juicy explosion of citrus and orange juice flavors, balanced by hints of grapefruit, resinous pine, and mild spices. The malt backbone is minimal but provides just enough structure to support the intense hop character. The finish is assertively bitter, yet balanced, with a smooth and lingering hop-driven aftertaste.
Brewery Background: Founded by John and Jen Kimmich, The Alchemist Brewery gained international fame following the release of Heady Topper, which has since become one of the most coveted beers in the world. Originally brewed in their small Vermont pub, Heady Topper’s popularity skyrocketed after the brewery transitioned to canning the beer following the devastating flood caused by Tropical Storm Irene in 2011. The Alchemist now operates a state-of-the-art production facility in Stowe, Vermont, where they continue to brew world-class IPAs and other styles.
Serving Suggestions: To fully enjoy Heady Topper’s complex hop profile, the brewers recommend drinking it straight from the can, where the carbonation and aromas are preserved. However, if poured into a glass, be sure to agitate the beer to release the full range of its hop characteristics. This bold IPA pairs wonderfully with spicy dishes, grilled meats, or rich cheeses, balancing hearty flavors with its vibrant bitterness and juicy hop notes.
