Founded in 1842, Niepoort has remained an independent family business for over 180 years, now led by the fifth-generation winemaker Dirk van der Niepoort. The family’s lodges in Vila Nova de Gaia are where the art of aging Port still follows centuries-old traditions, small oak casks, minimal intervention, and patience above all else. Dirk continues to champion balance and transparency, crafting wines that bridge heritage with innovation while preserving the delicate character that has defined Niepoort’s reputation as one of the Douro’s most revered producers.
