White peach, lime zest, green apple, and crushed slate return in a Riesling that will feel immediately familiar to customers who loved the 2024 vintage. Weingut Geierslay 'Vertigo' Riesling Feinherb, Mosel, Germany 2025 continues the same lightly off-dry, mineral-driven style that earned the previous release an Expert Choice from our sommelier Jessica Barrand and a place in our Wine Club. Where the 2024 leaned especially taut and electric, the 2025 brings a little more orchard-fruit generosity while preserving the vivid acidity and slate-driven tension that define Vertigo.

Sensory Description:

The 2025 opens with white peach, green and yellow apple, lime zest, jasmine, and wet slate. Its lightly off-dry palate balances a gentle touch of residual sweetness against vivid Mosel acidity, creating the same mouthwatering tension that defined the 2024. The principal vintage difference is one of generosity: the 2025 shows a little more ripe orchard fruit and softness through the middle, while citrus and mineral character keep the finish lifted and precise. Customers returning to Vertigo will recognize the same combination of fruit, acidity, and slate, just expressed through a slightly rounder and more immediately approachable vintage.

Producer’s Background:

The Kilburg family’s winegrowing history in Wintrich stretches back centuries, with documented vineyard ownership dating to 1465. Today, 20th-generation winemaker Max Kilburg is one of the young producers bringing renewed attention to the village’s steep slate vineyards. Vertigo is a collaboration between Kilburg and importer vom Boden, created by selecting wine from Max’s historic Geierslay cellar alongside parcels from trusted growers throughout Wintrich. Native fermentation, restrained cellar work, and a focus on village character allow the wine to retain the bright fruit, mineral tension, and naturally balanced sweetness that make traditional Mosel Riesling so distinctive.

Serving Suggestions:

Serve chilled at approximately 45 to 48 degrees Fahrenheit in a Riesling or medium-sized white wine glass. The combination of bright acidity and gentle sweetness makes Vertigo particularly versatile with Thai or Vietnamese cuisine, Sichuan dishes, pork schnitzel, smoked pork, roast poultry, shellfish, grilled trout, aged cheeses, or anything carrying a little heat, salt, or aromatic spice.
